"Burn the midnight oil"
To stay up late working on a task, usually something that requires significant effort or concentration.
"With the project deadline approaching, Sarah had to burn the midnight oil to ensure everything was completed on time."
This idiom originates from the time before electric lighting was common. People would use oil lamps to work late into the night, hence the phrase "burn the midnight oil" came to symbolize late-night work.
