"Take it with a pinch of salt"
To view something with skepticism or to not take it too seriously.
"When he said he could finish the project in one day, I took it with a pinch of salt."
This idiom dates back to ancient times, when it was believed that a small amount of salt could protect against poison. Over time, the phrase came to mean not fully believing everything one hears, especially if it seems exaggerated or doubtful.
